A few scattered thoughts hesitantly written down

A few scattered thoughts hesitantly written down

1. Why not ?

start with a drawing by my niece

drawing by Puca

Why do I like children’s sketches like this one?
Because this “bird” has four legs!

The world through the eyes of child is wonderful and full of surprises.
Many children nowadays do not believe in Fairy tales, let alone grown-ups
Do not let Innocence leave you.

2. Seeing

Autumn here in Virginia is beautiful
And I enjoy walking and taking pictures in my neighborhood

My friends asked how could I captured the falling leaves like that? Did I use photoshop?
You will see when you turn this picture 180 degree.
Look
And see
The same scenery…

We use to look at flowers
from above
Not the same view as with a cricket

3. Playing

Winter
White snow
Leaves left the tree (or they fully lived their life)

Seeing
and playing
Just enough
With minimal alteration
to reveal a face I saw

4. Not only

Silent night
Listen to the raindrops (Chopin’s ‘Raindrop’ Prelude

The language of silence has no limit

Reading a good story:

And he went back to meet the fox.
“Goodbye,” he said.
“Goodbye,” said the fox.
“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret:It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
“What is essential is invisible to the eye,”
the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.
( Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry )

What do you read ?
What do you listen to?
What do you see?
Yesterday
Today

Do you think people can see many sunsets in the same day?
Why is Rose has to be red with green leave but not the other way around?
Who say so? Give me a brush and paint ….

You want the paint to follow you
Or you want to follow it

Painting by Giang Dinh

Both,
as two friends
wander in a forest.

and…
and…
You fill in the blank yourself

Those who waste your time reading to this line might wonder what the things mentioned above have to do with origami? There are no origami pictures…
The answer is perhaps nothing
Or perhaps, a lot
The line between Art and Craft as folders are still debating
I think Origami needs “Wind”, “Etude #n”…
If it is an insect then it should be a Hybrid between an insect and a flower, for example.

The more you “copy” a real subject, the less clear our own “voice”, regardless if you have excellent technical ability.
Simple or Complex are not the most important thing, but to find your own voice.
Of course it is not easy at all,
But you should start with what make you happy
Do not care much about what trends are out there
Solitude is also important, nobody can walk for you
You should always open your mind and learn from others,
but hopefully one day you can find your own path.

Just a few scattered thoughts
I am not sure if I should share, or not
What is left
After they are blown away in the wind?
